Academic Games
    Academic Games is an after school math activity open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  It centers around the game "Equations."  For an explanation of the game go to http://www.academicgames.org/  , click on "Games Played," and then on "Equations."    The five middle schools in Dearborn make up the Dearborn Academic Games League.  They compete against each other once a week  for 7 weeks.  The first 5 weeks are the regular season where the entire team from each school competes against all of the other schools.  The last two weeks are the Super Tournament, where 5 person teams from each school compete.
 
   
I.G.N.I.T.E.
  

   IGNITE is an enrichment activity for students that perform well in school and on standardized tests.  We undertake challenging activities that expand on school learning and provide students with the opportunities to go beyond the every day school experience.  IGNITE is an after school activity for qualifying students.
   
Homework Help
       O.L. Smith offers an after school homework help program. This program is open to all students at O.L. Smith. Teachers are available to assist students with homework and review for tests. Students must make arrangements for transportation before school starts, those students that are bussed may ride the 4:15 pm activity bus. Check in time for homework help is 2:55pm in Room 8. The session ends at 4:10 pm and students may begin to leave at 3:30 pm unless bussed. Students may bring snacks and drinks to eat while they are working. Sign Language Classes

On Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 in the 6th grade wing of O.L. Smith Middle school. Beginners welcome. Adults and children welcome.
   
S.T.A.N.D.
 

  STAND is a student leadership group which is open to all Smith students.  There are five main components to STAND: Leadership Training, Parent Involvement, Community Service, Safe and Drug Free Activities, and Personal/School Safety.  Our STAND chapter looks forward to offering school wide activities that promote a sense of belonging.  We are active in ways that benefit all of the Smith community- Toys for Tots, Family Grams, Charity Week, school spirit and individual growth.  STAND is an after school program.
