O.L. Smith Middle School

Flint Water Crisis Fundraising Event Here at Smith (updated Feb. 10)

Update as of Feb. 10:
O. L. Smith made great strides in the fundraising effort for the Flint Water Crisis during the week of February 1st. The Vikings raised $442.50 on February 3rd between students paying $1 to wear a hat in school, cash donations by students, their families or staff members and also by staff members who chose to pay $10 to wear jeans throughout the week of February 1st.

The money was donated to the “Flint Child Health & Development Fund” [flintkids.org] managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint who does not take any administrative cut to monies given to the FCHDF.

Thanks to everyone in our Smith Community for supporting such a worthy cause!

On Wednesday, February 3rd we will sponsor a fundraiser to make a donation on behalf of O.L. Smith to help with the Flint Water Crisis.

Students and staff members can pay $1.00 to wear a hat to school all day.  Students who pay to wear a hat will receive a “Hat Pass” to show each teacher that they are participating.  You will have to have your pass with you all day in order to keep on your hat!

Also, staff members can choose to donate $10 in order to wear jeans at school throughout the week!  So, if you see us dressed down a bit outside of our College Wear Friday, you’ll know why!
