Students from across the country gather annually for the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Board of Directors created the NASSP Student Leadership Advisory Committee. Membership on this committee consists of students, advisers, and principals representing all the NASSP student programs. NASSP is currently seeking applications for the 2017–19 term.
We invite you to apply for one of three adviser committee member positions that will be selected through a national application process directly through NASSP.
The NASSP Student Leadership Advisory Committee ensures that the organization provides programs, services, and resources that promote student leadership, voice, service, and engagement in alignment with the mission and vision of NASSP. The committee also engages student leaders in advocacy by creating a platform for students’ voice.
The Student Leadership Advisory Committee selects a biennial theme as the core of a national initiative. Focusing on the theme of global citizenship, the current committee participated in two Capitol Hill briefings, visited with members of Congress, and participated in the NASSP LEAD Conferences. You can see many of the great activities being undertaken around the country by participating councils and chapters at makingglobalchange.org.
Each Student Leadership Advisory Committee member serves a two-year term beginning mid-November 2017 and ending on October 30, 2019. NASSP covers all allowable expenses, including travel, lodging, and food, that are associated with attendance and participation in scheduled meetings and activities.
All committee members are selected by the NASSP Student Programs staff and will be subject to the approval of the NASSP Board of Directors. Adviser applicants will be notified of selections following a review of all applications.
