B-Day

Lunch: Macaroni & Cheese

1) With warmer weather coming, students must remember the dress code for our school.
Boys are not permitted to wear sleeveless shirts. Shirts must cover midriff. Shirts must cover bras and brap strap completely. Tank top straps, and all shirt straps must have sleeves that are at least two fingers wide. Shorts and skirts must come no higher than bottom of fingers when arms are extended straight down. No sunglasses, hats or bandanas. All shoes and sandals must back or strap around the heel.

2) Please join the next year’s 8th grade class of 2019 at Panera on the Hill for a fundraising
event on Thursday, May 24 from 4-8pm. Bring the flyer or show an electronic version to the
cashier when you place your order and a portion of the proceeds from your purchase will
be donated to assist with next year’s 8th grade activities.

3) 8th grade students are having a “dough raising” Hungry Howie’s pizza fundraiser to sponsor the
8th grade dance and promotion. Each 8th grade student is asked to sell 5 pizza certificates for
Only $6 each. The sale will run from 5/14-5/23 and sellers should collect payment when the order
is placed. Please return the order forms and money to the main office by 5/23/18. Contact Ms.

4) OL Smith PTSA invites you to another great roller skating party on May 22 from 6-8pm at
the Lincoln Park Skating Center (1419 Southfield Road, Lincoln Park). Admission of $8 includes skate rental. This event is open to all Smith school families and friends. Please contact Jennifer Fisher directly (jenn4relay@yahoo.com or 313-595-8567) with any questions.

5) Smith Drama Club presents “The Princess Bride” at 6pm in the Smith Auditorium on
5/31 and 6/1. Tickets are $4 per adult, $2 per student at the door. If a $1 box/can
Non-perishable food item is brought in when the ticket is purchased, the ticket price is
reduced by $1.

6) Track Schedule:
5/23 – City Meet @ Edsel Ford

7) 8th Grade Farewell Ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 13th at Edsel
Ford High School in the auditorium at 6pm. Additional information will be
forthcoming to parent and students in the near future.

8) Smith 8th grade students interested in trying out for the Unified Hockey Team for
high school should contact Coach Dallas at dallasb@dearbornschools.org for additional
information as tryouts start soon.

9) High school football coaches from EFHS and DHS will be here on Wednesday, June 6th
from 2:35pn-2:55pm to meet with 8th grade students who wish to play football next fall.
Students going to EF students in the fall will meet in room 78; DHS students will meet in the west gym.

10) Dearborn Public Schools is very excited about the events planned for the STILL
STANDING program that will take place this summer – 6/26/18 thru 8/2/18. Applications
for students are available in the Smith main office and are due back by May 30th. Students
are selected on a first come, first served basis by the district.
