A-Day
1) Washington DC Trip 8th Grade Parent Meeting will be held TODAY, October 2nd at 5:30pm in the auditorium. All 8th grade parents are encouraged to attend.
2) Please join us on Wednesday, October 3rd at 6pm to discuss the future of the PTSA at Smith. Ms. Nofila Haidar, the PTA Council President will join us to answer all your questions.
3) Stand Up Against Bullying Day is TODAY, October 2nd. Students and staff are asked to wear blue to show your support.
4) Dentists-R-Us will be at Smith School on October 10th. Permission slips are still available. Turn in your permission slip today!
5) Penny War for Pizza! From 10/1 – 10/31, there will be a Penny War between the 6th, 7th & 8th grade students. Students and staff can donate pennies to their grade collection bucket, but silver coin counts as negative points so you will want to donate those to the other classes. 6) Dearborn Public Schools is encouraging students and parents to celebrate the 22nd annual Walk to School Day on Oct. 10th by leaving their vehicles at home and walking to school. Walking to school is healthier for students and parents, reduces traffic congestion around schools, saves families money on gas, and helps the environment by reducing air emissions. We would like to invite you to walk with us and promote a more walkable world
7) Attention Basketball Players: The Dearborn Basketball Association is starting up soon with a weekly practice and contests to be played here at O.L. Smith. There are boys and girls divisions for players in grades 3 thru 8. The deadline to sign up for the Dearborn Basketball Association program is November 1st. See your Phys Ed teacher for an informational flyer if you are interested.
8) Please return all CEP survey’s to the Main Office as soon as possible. This survey will assist the district in compiling data essential to receiving other State and Federal Funding for students.
9) The 7th Annual Robert Cipriano Memorial Cross Country Run will be held on Monday, October 15th at Ford Field Park in Dearborn. The two-mile run for middle schoolers will start at 4:00 for girls, and 4:25 for boys. There is a $3 charge and a permission slip must be turned in. If you are interested in participating, please see your Physical Education teacher for an entrance form no later than October 5th.
