B-Day

Purrs and Paws club is canceled today,
Wednesday, October 31st due to Halloween!

 

1) CHANGE OF INFORMATION: Girls swim tryouts will be held today, October 31st & November 1st from 3pm-4:30. Girls interested in tryout for swimming (6th, 7th & 8th) must sign-up on the sheets outside of Coach Ball’s room. (Room 74) All students must have a physical turned in and proper swimming attire(swim suit & goggles). If you have questions, see Coach Ball.

2) There will be a Student Council Meeting this Thursday, November 1st at 7am in room 20.

3) Locker clean out will be this Thursday, November 1st during A2.

4) Smith Parents: A friendly reminder to return your PTSA membership form and payment. Forms will be distributed to students during A2 classes and are available in the Main Office. Registration forms will also be available at the election day bake sale and during parent/teacher conferences. The PTSA will be providing breakfast goodies to the A2 class in each grade that returns the  most PTSA membership registrations with membership payments by November 26th. Please consider joining the PTSA and making an investment in your child, and their school! Feel free to contact any PTSA board member with your questions.

5) Students please check out the lost and found box and shelving area for any items you might be missing. Items remaining in the lost and found area by Friday, November 2nd will be donated to charity.

6) Please help support the 8th grade class with their Nov. 6th, Election Day Bake Sale by donating items or volunteering to work the sale. Please
complete the signup genius form to hel.! All donated items may be left in the office on Monday, Nov. 5th or can be dropped off directly at the bake sale table on November 6 between 7:30am – 5:00pm. Link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e044faeab2aa6fe3-election

7) Parent volunteers are needed for the Scholastic Book Fair coming the week of November 12th. Interested parent volunteers should contact the Smith Media Specialist, Ms. Janine Wilcox at wilcoxj@dearbornschools.org or call the main office at 827-2800. Student and staff may purchase items during the day on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The Book Fair will also be open in the evening during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday, 11/12 and Wednesday, 11/14.

8) Wreaths sold for the PTSA holiday fundraiser to benefit all grades will be delivered the week of November 5th.

9) Students interested in joining the new Art Club may pick up a permission slip from the main office or see Mr. Kade. Art Club will be on Wednesdays from 3:05-4pm in room 80 on the following dates: 11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/5 and 12/12. Students will need to supply some personal art supplies from home, however some supplies will be provided for them. Students will also need to have their own transportation home when club dismisses.

10) Boys basketball tryouts will be held today, October 31st and November 1st from3pm-4:30pm.

11) Ms. Courtesis will be in the cafeteria with the penny buckets today, Oct. 31st for students who want to donate to the class buckets. Coins can also be submitted to the buckets in the main office. The grade with the most pennies at the end of October wins a pizza party! Stay tuned to see which grade wins!

12) Attention Basketball Players: The Dearborn Basketball Association is starting up soon with a weekly practice and contests to be played here at O.L. Smith. There are boys and girls divisions for players in grades 3 thru 8. The deadline to sign up for the Dearborn Basketball Association program is November 1st. See your Phys Ed teacher for an informational flyer if you are interested.

13) Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 4th. Turn your clocks back one hour November 4th! (Fall back!)

14) Lifetouch picture retake day is November 7th. Students who missed the picture day in September may get their picture taken at this time. Order forms are available in the main office. Those students who would like to have their picture retaken must return the full original package they received.
