A-Day

1) Mandatory Tutoring for students who received a green form already started November 20th and will continue Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday every week from 3-4 pm. Forms must be signed and returned to Ms. Hammoud.

2) Any Smith student interested in auditioning for the Wizard of Oz play should report to the auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 6th from 3-4:30pm. The make-up day for students who miss the audition days will be Thursday, Dec. 13th. For additional information, please contact Ms. Stacy Greenwell.

3) Dearborn’s annual Tree Lighting and Sing Along is tonight, Dec. 3rd at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. This free event begins at 6pm with music performed by the Dearborn Youth Symphony. The sing-along begins at 6:30pm and there will be cookies, hot chocolate and coffee available in the lobby with Santa Clause welcoming children. For more information call 313-943-2350.

4) Wayne County Vision Examiners will be screening all 7th grade students Today, December 3rd and tomorrow, December 4th with a few 6th & 8th grade students. Vision screening will be in room 53 and students will either be blue slipped or will attend with their teacher.

5) Get in the holiday spirit with songs of the season performed by the Smith Instrumental/Band students at the Winter Concert on December 18th at 6:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend!

6) Next Late Start Day: Wednesday, December 12th.

7) Winter is wonderful and we all enjoy the snow, but the Administrators want to remind all students that throwing snow before and after school is not allowed. The snow must remain on the ground.

8) Students: The colder weather is now upon us. Please remember to dress appropriately with a coat, hat, gloves and boots when needed. According to the Superintendent of Dearborn Schools, students may be outside when the wind chill or temperature is 20° or above. (See Superintendent’s Iblog) Students are allowed to enter school at 7:40am for breakfast or must remain on the blue tiles in the atrium until the 7:50am bell rings if not in the cafeteria.

10) Alternative High School Programs Meeting: There will be a meeting explaining enrollment to alternative high school programs for all 8th grade students on Wednesday, January 30th from 8:30-9:15am. Information about the Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology (DCMST) and the Early College Program will be presented in the auditorium.
