NWEA TESTING TODAY FOR 7th & 8th GRADE STUDENTS!

1) Edsel Ford will be having it’s first fundraiser for Charity Week this Friday, January 18th at Brome Burger ALL DAY LONG! Just mention Edsel Ford at the cash register and a percentage of your purchase will benefit “Reach Out Lafond”, a charity this is dedicated to improving the lives of Haitians  through education. If you would like more information on the charity, visit their website: https://www.reachoutlafond.org/

2) Boys interested in playing football at Edsel Ford H.S. in the fall should attend a meeting in the atrium Thursday, January 30th at 2:55pm. Coach Mac will be here to pass out informational flyers and have a brief meeting. All potential EFHS football players should attend this meeting.

3) Students are encouraged, and welcome to come cheer on your Smith Athletes at all games and meets, however you must make arrangements
ahead of time to have a ride home. The student phone in the Main Office isnot to be used during or after school to make those plans. Thank you!

4) Girls basketball tryouts will be January 24th & 25th from 3pm-4:30pm. Students must have a sports physical on file.

5) Boys swim team tryouts will be January 24th & 25th from 3pm-4:30pm. Students must have a sports physical on file.

6) PTSA Roller Skating Event is January 29 from 6-8pm at Lincoln Park Skating Center.  Cost is $8 at the door and includes skate rental; receive $1 off admission if you wear Smith Vikings gear or if you are a PTSA Member!

7) 1st semester ends Friday, January 18th. Report cards will be mailed home.

8) Friday, January 18th: 1/2 day for students.

9) Monday, January 21st – No School.

10) Tuesday, January 22nd & Wednesday, January 23rd: 1/2 day for students.

12) Students who are observed by staff members doing something good throughout the school day have an opportunity to participate in the
Viking Voucher raffle. Teachers will recognize students by having them fill out a Viking Voucher, then teachers will put the ticket in the Main Office container and students will have the chance to win a great prize.

13) A meeting for additional High School Programs: There will be a meeting explaining enrollment to alternative high school programs for all 8th grade students on Wednesday, January 30th from 8:30-9:15am. Information about the Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology (DCMST) and the Early College Program will be presented in the auditorium.
