A-Day

1) Students: Please check the lost and found area near the cafeteria for items you may have misplaced. Any item remaining in the lost and found area by Friday, February 1st will be donated to charity.

2) Due to the weather forecast, the PTSA is cancelling the roller skating event for this evening, January 29th. New date(s) for upcoming PTSA sponsored events will be shared soon

3) There will be a meeting explaining enrollment to alternative high school programs for all 8th grade students on Wednesday, January 30th from 8:30-9:15am in the auditorium. Information about (DCMST) the Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology and the Early College Program will be presented.

4) Report cards will be mailed home this week.

5) There is an informational parent meeting scheduled for this evening, Jan. 29th at the MBCC (Michael Berry Career Center) from 6-7 pm in the lecture hall. This meeting is for parents of students currently in 8th grade who are enrolled in Algebra 1. The discussion will include the program and requirements students must have to be invited to the incoming DCMST freshman class for Fall 2019.

6) Boys interested in playing football at Edsel Ford H.S. in the fall should attend a meeting in the atrium Wednesday, January 30th at 2:55pm. Coach Mac will be here to pass out informational flyers and have a brief meeting. All potential EFHS football players should attend this meeting.

7) SURA photography class for students returns on Feb.19th Middle school students can learn photography through a 10-week class
being offered at the Arab American Museum. The class is designed to help students share stories about their lives, community and culture. The
theme for this year is a personal look into what home is. Point and shoot cameras will be provided, but the class will also incorporate smartphone technology. Students’ work will be celebrated in the Museum’s annual Student Photography Exhibition. Contact the Arab American Museum for more information.

8) The Early College application is now available to ALL 8th-grade students for the following programs.
1. Advanced Manufacturing- Students wanting a career in the Manufacturing Industry / Engineering
2. Henry Ford Early College- Students wanting a career in health
3. New for Fall 2019 is the Pre-Education- Students wanting a career as an Educator
A Student is only allowed 1 application to be completed through your school email. 8th graders should check their district email soon for the link and complete it only from your school email by March 1st. If you have any questions see your Dr. Elder. Good Luck!
