B-Day
Remember to Spring Forward 1 Hour Saturday Night!
1) Students: You MUST use a signed hall pass in the back of your planner signed by a Teacher to go to the Main Office, Counseling Office, or the
Responsibility Room room during scheduled classes or passing time.
2) March Madness Planner Sale – Now is the time to purchase your Smith planner for only $3 in the Main Office. All Smith students are required to use the hall passes in their planner when going to the Main Office, the Counseling Office or Responsibility Room.
3) March 8th will be Mary Poppins auditions for Edsel Ford! Edsel Ford Theater Department is looking for two children to play Jane and Michael, as well as middle schoolers for the children’s chorus. You may choose to attend auditions at Edsel Ford on Thursday, March 7th at 4:00 or audition at Smith on Friday, March 8th at 3:00! See Ms. Timpf for any additional details or questions!
4) Dearborn High School bound 8th grade students will be meeting with the DHS 9th grade team on Tuesday, March 19th from 8:15am – 9:15am. Students will report to Advisory for attendance then come to the auditorium with a pencil.
5) Need help with a math assignment or homework? The NJHS students volunteer their time Tuesday & Thursday from 2:55-3:30 in room 53
assisting all students who would like help with a math assignment or homework. Students can come to the room and must sign in. See Dr. Elder
or an NJHS student if you have questions.
6) Nomination forms for the Alberta Muirhead Teacher of the Year award are available in the Main Office for students who would like to recognize their favorite Smith teacher. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, March 8th at 5pm. An online nomination form can be found on the district’s website at www.dearbornschools.org.
7) Scholastic Book Fair – March 25th thru March 29th in the Media Center.

9) Are you interested in learning to create a mobile app? If so, check out the Smith Counseling Blog and sign up. The program runs from March-April after school at the Berry Center and it’s Free!! You may end up on “Shark Tank” See Dr. Elder for questions.
10) Due to the hard work of our teachers, students and families, Smith Middle School has received the 2019 Michigan Emerald School award. Congratulations Vikings!
11) The date for the Spring Orientation for Edsel Ford H.S. bound 8th grade students will be Thursday, March 28th from 6pm-8pm. Families will gather in the auditorium for a brief welcoming from 6-6:30pm. From 6:30-8pm, families are invited to the cafeteria to meet with representatives of all the wonderful clubs, sports, and academic opportunities that are offered to students at Edsel Ford High School.
12) Mr. Kade would like to let Smith students know that Art Club is back on again, continuing every Wednesday during the month of March from 3-4pm. Students will be asked to work on personal projects to be included in Fine Arts Night coming later in the school year. Students must arrange to be picked up or leave the building by 4:05.
