Win prizes and bragging rights as O.L. Smith’s 2019 March Madness Tournament of Books Winner!
Starting this week, you will have opportunities to vote in a March Madness Book Bracket to pick the books you think are most popular among middle school students (based on a national survey of middle school librarians). We will narrow the books down each day- From the “Sweet 16” to the “Elite 8” to the “Final 4” to the “Book of the Year” Championship.
You will get to vote in each round and points are awarded for each correct vote. The first voting link (Sweet 16) will be sent out Wednesday, March 20 by email. Be sure to vote with the link you receive in your email each day and track your points! After the last vote next Wednesday, the top three point-getters will win the following prizes:

3d place $10 Book Fair Gift Card
(In the event of a point tie, we will choose the winner in a drawing.)

The Outsiders
The Outsiders is about two weeks in the life of a 14-year-old boy. The novel tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider. According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for “social”) has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he’s always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers–until one terrible night that causes his bifurcated world to crumble and teaches him that pain feels the same whether a you’re a soc or a greaser.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
