Dearborn Big Read – The World Is Your Lab

A public event on Monday, October 14th will be the launch for the Dearborn Public Library’s fourth NEA Big Read program, which focuses on Hope Jahren’s Lab Girl.

The memoir tells the story of a young woman who finds friendship in odd places, battles bipolar disorder, perseveres through setbacks, and relishes hard-earned triumphs, eventually becoming a respected scientist and passionate observer of the natural world.

Though the NEA Big Read programming takes place in March and April of 2020, the project will launch on Monday, October 14 at 4 p.m. at the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 4901 Evergreen Rd. Everyone is invited to attend.

There will be tulip bulbs given away at the free, family-friendly event, courtesy of English Gardens and light refreshments will be served. Free parking will be available on the third floor of the Monteith Parking Structure. Attendees are advised to only park on the third floor.
