Smith Happenings!

Greetings Vikings!

There are a lot of great things going on at Smith!!

  • Thanks to our wonderful PTSA – Smith had a very successful Family Fun Fall Festival on Friday! It was beautiful watching families and students enjoy the festival.
  •  Smith is seeing consistent academic growth in assessment scores. We are very proud of our growth and the increase we are seeing in the number of students who are proficient in math and reading.
  • There are a lot of clubs and activities going on before and after school that students can join. We also provide several opportunities for student leadership. Students are always welcome to start a club that suits them if they can’t find something they are interested in.
  •  As we near the end of the 1st card marking, we are providing tutoring (free of charge to our families as we absorb the cost) to any student who is not passing a core class. All others are welcome to join for extra support. We have five of our very own certified teachers providing this service.
  • As our students become more socially adjusted and make social healthy connections, they also develop a stronger sense of who they are socially & emotionally. It is our goal to support this by providing social & academic opportunities to support each child’s growth.
  • At times, we must remind students to make better decisions. However, if it becomes necessary to reach out to families, we will welcome your presence in the school to join your child at lunch or accompany your child to class. We appreciate the partnership we have with our Viking families!
  • We want all students to enjoy their middle school experience and will not allow any student to interrupt the healthy culture we have at O.L. Smith or interfere with student learning and teachers’ ability to deliver the service expected of them. Any student who violates our Code of Conduct or interrupts the school culture will be disciplined and may be excluded from school activities.
  • We welcome any parent/guardian to visit Smith.

We look forward to seeing you November 11th and 13th for Parent Teacher Conferences (4-7pm.)
