Options for Reporting Student Absences
The Automated Attendance Calls from the District have started for all schools, and the time is set for 4pm to accommodate the remote learning schedule. Students marked with the attendance code “A”-Absent will receive a call on the primary phone listed for the student.
As schools are working with attendance, please note that parents/guardians can report student absences by calling the Smith Attendance Line any time of day/night at 313-827-2801 and leaving a detailed message, or by using either their Mobile App or Desktop version of ParentConnect.
When parents use ParentConnect to report an absence, they will see a tab “Report Absence”. Once they click on Report Absence, a screen will display where it lists all their students; parents can then choose to enter attendance for the whole day or only for a specific length of time, for one student or multiple students.
The District provides parents/guardians with 6 Reasons to choose from that are mapped to MIStar attendance codes: 1)Bereavement 2)Doctor Appointment 3)Family Emergency 4)Sick 5)Vacation 6)Late
