Smith PTSA Haunted Car Wash Was A Huge Success!

The following message regarding the Smith PTSA sponsored Haunted Car Wash event is brought to you by the Smith PTSA President, Robbin Makled:

With a line that stretched almost a mile at times, the event washed and scared  approximately 270 cars!  It was the hottest event in Dearborn!  We estimate over 1,000 riders came through and were scared by our creepy babies, haunted butcher shop, ghosts, zombie art teachers, and clowns!

We had over 40 volunteers between set-up and working the event.  Special thanks to our PTSA Vice President and Events Chair Stacy Holland who had the vision and was instrumental in planning and executing this event.  She lost her voice and had to dump water out of her shoes after standing in the pouring car wash all night scaring kids!  She made sure that everything was sprayed with the appropriate amount of fake blood!  We could not have done without all our parent volunteers!  Anne Michelis, Stacey Brown, and Amy Fradkin are always there to help and make things better, and Stacey, as our treasurer made sure all of our funds were accounted for!

Westborn Car Wash donated 100 percent of proceeds to our PTSA.  Owner Ali Turfe is a truly amazing man and member of our community.  His enthusiasm and generosity in making this event happen was both remarkable and inspirational.  Please give Westborn Car Wash a stellar Google review today and give them your business.  They are truly part of the heart of this community.

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on Greenfield road gave away approximately 200 ice cream cones to kids 14 and under.  Manager Joe Haidous and DQ were incredibly generous to our families and community.  Again, please give them your business!

Howe Peterson brought a REAL HEARSE to our event and their driver volunteered at our event.  They have been an important business and supporter of our community since 1873.

Lolly by Golly Sweet Shoppe provided treat bags for kids. LaFontaine Automotive also donated supplies for our treat bags.  Thank you for letting the kids finish off the scary with some sweets!

Visual Ronin Media and the owner Michael Kuentz created a spooky radio broadcast, special effects, and provided technical support!  The radio broadcast made everything more fun!

Sign Gypsies Downriver donated awesome signage to our event.  They are a local business owned by O.L. Smith parent Amy Brozoski.  Sign Gypsies has been extremely generous donating signs to our school!  Keep them in mind for celebrating your special events!

Special thanks to City Council Candidate (and O.L. Smith Alum) Silvio Davis, volunteers from Edsel Ford Drama, Dearborn Crystallettes, and Dearborn Rotary club.

And a big thank you to all the O.L. Smith parents and families who volunteered time and spooky items. And thank you to all of our YOU who came out and brought your families to this event.  We raised a lot of money which will really help our school!

Westborn Car Wash is ready to schedule with us for next year and 2022 will be even bigger and better!

It truly takes a village and we are so happy to have so many wonderful community partners!!
