O.L. Smith Middle School

The Week Ahead 5/4 – 5/6

Greetings Vikings,

It has been a very full week with M-STEP testing and PSAT Make-Ups.  Our students have really risen to the challenge and put their best efforts into  smooth and directed sessions.  Our team is proud of our students’ focus throughout this week.  I am very eager to see how well the exams captured the intelligence and capabilities of our Vikings!

Thursday April 28th was Care to the Core.  Every day, students across the city are doing good deeds to help each other, their teachers, their friends and their families. Whether it’s picking up a dropped book or talking to the “new kid” during lunch in the cafeteria, small acts of kindness add up in a big way to make Dearborn schools a friendly, welcoming place.  Care to the Core Day recognizes these acts across the district with a culminating activity day.  At OL Smith Students showed the fabric of who we are as a school by either sharing their culture, values and personalities with a “Quilt Square”, pictured here  or making short video promoting Viking Values. Our students are so talented!  A Sample Student PSA video HERE

Remember that we will have a shortened week next week with students off on Monday and Tuesday. Once we return we are into MAY, the last full month of the school year.  I look back and see how much we have changed, grown, and accomplished in this unpredictable “normal” school year and am proud of how we have adjusted and achieved.  I have stated this before and will restate it now; we are in the final lap of the race.  Now is the time to put your full effort in and finish the year strong!
