Greetings Vikings,
As you know, next week is spring break, but food distribution will continue during spring break!! The Dearborn Public Schools distribution sites for student meals during the week are Fordson, Dearborn and Edsel Ford high schools; McCollough/Unis; Salina Intermediate; Smith Middle School; and Woodworth Middle School. During the week of April 6 to 10, meals at the 7 Dearborn Schools Locations will be handed out on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, April 10, is Good Friday and a holiday for District staff.
Report cards will be available online on Monday, April 6th. These report cards are for marking period 3 are based on the grades that students had prior to March 13th, 2020. You will be able to access the report cards via ParentConnect. To login to ParentConnect, parents need to use their PIN and password. Parents go to Dearborn Schools website then ParentConnect link. If they don’t know the login info, parents may click on the (Need Your Login Information) link and it will prompt you to enter your email address as provided to the school and entered in MIStar (Menu/Enrollment/Student Editor/Contacts) and click Submit. This process emails them their PIN and Password. Once in ParentConnect, you will be able to access your child’s report cards by going to Report Card Marks. WE WILL NOT BE MAILING THEM HOME.
Next week is our spring break, which is a time for everyone to take a break from the remote learning and enrichment assignments. Teachers will be unavailable during this week and students are not expected to complete any work.
Remote learning will resume on Monday, April 13th. Moving forward, our school district will be finalizing a plan for the remainder of this school year. This is similar to what students have been working on over the last few weeks. We will continue to update our blogs with resources to help your child at home as well as arrange for continued class check-ins via Google Hangouts, etc between teachers and students in their classes.
Most importantly, during this next week, take this valuable time to be with your family while still following the recommendations from Governor and the CDC.
I really hope that you and your child take the next week to rest up, enjoy your family and take up a new hobby or establish a new skill – just for fun! It’s not often that life is put on “pause” for us. Let’s make the best of this time. With adversity, comes opportunity!
Smith staff and I miss seeing all of our students and their families and know that we will persevere and make it through this uncertain time. We are the Vikings and we will get through this together!!
Please take time off, rest up, sharpen the saw and enjoy your families!
If there is anything that you need – please reach out to me. Have a wonderful spring break!
Principal Jebril
