Smith’s Community Garden

Greetings Vikings and neighbors!

These are pictures from Smith’s Community Garden. We have so much lettuce now!! Thank you to Janet Damien – our neighborhood and Community Garden’s Guardian Angel who planted this lettuce and cared for it. It’s now ready to harvest. Please stop by and help yourself – if you would like some. We just ask that you please be a good neighbor, by being kind to our community garden and remember to exercise social distancing.

Janet is a community member who came to Smith during our pancake dinner. She helped cook and serve at our event. More importantly, Janet shared Smith related stories with us as she is a Smith alumni. She stayed connected with us and continues to volunteer her time for the benefit of all.

We are beyond grateful to Janet for giving our community garden the TLC it so desperately needed. She also planted other vegetables that you will be seeing soon.

This makes me so grateful and proud to have this partnership with our community.

Please come by and help yourself. Tell your neighbors – even if they don’t have kids at Smith. All are welcome!

If you see Janet, please make sure you thank her for all her hard work. On behalf of our Garden Club, student body, faculty and community, THANK YOU JANET, for all you have done and continue to do for our community and for O.L. Smith!!!

With gratitude,

Principal Jebril
