My Dear Viking Family,
The time has come for me to embark on my new journey as principal of Dearborn High School. It’s with mixed feelings that I announce this Friday to be my last day at Smith. I will miss you all so very much.
I want to thank each and every one of you for all your support and for entrusting me with your children. I am honored and feel so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be part of the Viking Family. I have fostered relationships with many of you and I will cherish the memories and friendships I’ve made during my time here. O.L.Smith has been a very special place for me and will forever occupy a very special place in my heart. We worked hard together and have much to be proud of! Smith is an amazing place for our students. I have loved watching our young Vikings grow up into amazing young people who have touched my heart. I will miss them immensely and will treasure my memories of them all. In visiting DHS this past week, I loved seeing and catching up with my Viking Alumni! I look forward to continuing my work with those of you who will be moving on to Dearborn High School.
In closing, I’d like to acknowledge just how lucky we all are to have such an outstanding school community and I will use all that I have learned here at Smith and carry that to the next phase of my career. I feel very fortunate for all of the opportunities and experiences I have had at Smith and I wish you and your families all the best!
Five years ago, you welcomed me and trusted me to lead our school and I’m confident that you will continue to do the same for Mr. Rummel – as the interim principal of Smith. He, along with Mr. Baughman, will ensure that the legacy of excellence that we began together will continue for years to come.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your precious village and although I will not be at Smith, I am only a phone call or email away. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is ever anything you need.
