Important PTSA Updates: WE NEED YOU!

Important Updates from Our PTSA
PARENTS WE NEED YOUR HELP!  PLEASE SIGN UP TO DONATE OR VOLUNTEER TO NEXT WEEK’S HAUNTED CAR WASH!Sign up genius link:https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4FAAAA2CA1FA7-haunted1The O.L. Smith Haunted Car Wash will be held Friday, October 28 and Saturday October 29 at Westborn Car Wash,  25073 Michigan Avenue 8-11 pm.  This is such a fun event and a VERY important source of funds for our school.  We need lots of help to make this event successful.  We need many volunteers to work the event- either or both days.  For safety reasons, we do not want any middle school students working at the event, plus we want our students to be able to come through in cars and experience the event . Volunteers at the event must be high school age and older please.  If anyone needs a costume, please reach out to Robbin Makled 313-319-7199, as the PTSA has some good ones to lend.
Please sign up as soon as possible so that we are able to ensure that we can run this event the two nights.  Please review the signup genius and seriously consider how you can help.  Even a few hours of your time helping decorate, working at the car wash taking money or dressing in costume and scaring event attendees, or helping clean up at the end will significantly help relieve the burden on the PTSA event organizers who are working so hard.  Our children will ALL share in the benefits of funds raised for the school.

BRING YOUR FAMILY THROUGH THE HAUNTED CAR WASH!
The O.L. Smith Middle School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) has teamed up again with Westborn Car Wash to present The Haunted Car Wash Tunnel of Terror (see the flyer attached).  Lock your car doors and roll up the windows as you prepare to enter the Haunted Car Wash for some sudsy, spooky fun!  Last year’s biggest Halloween fun event is back this year for two consecutive nights.

The Haunted Car Wash fundraiser is being held on Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29, 2022, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM each evening.

The Westborn Car Wash is located at 25073 Michigan Ave in Dearborn, west of Telegraph Road.  Participants will receive an entertaining, immersive experience that begins as soon as they pull into parking lot and will have them on the edge of their seat until their sparkling clean car emerges from the Tunnel of Terror, all from the safety of their own vehicle.

Freaky phantoms, evil clowns, and demented demons will take over for two nights only, ensuring that patrons get the scare of their life with haunted scenes and displays as they proceed through the car wash, ending with a terrifying towel dry and treat bags.  This years’ event will have new gruesome displays and bigger and even bigger scares- parental discretion is advised.

Last year’s fundraiser raised nearly $5,000. Monies raised go right back into the school to provide for classroom activities, programs, and supplies.

PTSA FundingHere are just a few ways in which PTSA funds are already planned to benefit our students this year.  Stay tuned!  We are just getting started this year in supporting our kids and giving them the best possible enrichment experiences at school!
Book Fair- Through our recent book sale we were able to provide our ELA and ASD room teachers with $100 each to purchase books and Scholastic supplies for their classrooms, while putting books in hands of our students.  We were able to purchase $1,300 in books and supplies for O.L. Smith!  Thank you to parent volunteers Amy Noone and Joyce Dunlap for running and administering the book fair!
PBIS Rewards- the PTSA is funding treat bags for the October PBIS event and will also be providing pizza for the November event.  We are working with the PBIS committee to provide future rewards such as raffle prizes and experiences for the kids to reward positive behavior.
Thank you all for supporting OL Smith!  It truly takes a village to raise children, and you are an important part of that village.
