Please consider giving even an hour of your time to help with the major carwash fundraising event Friday and especially Saturday. See the urgent message below from your PTSA:
Parents we are still in desperate need of volunteers for this SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29!Sign up genius link:https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4FAAAA2CA1FA7-haunted1
It’s coming down to the wire and we have virtually NO volunteers for the Haunted Car Wash for SATURDAY night. If you click on the signup genius, the SATURDAY time slots appear on the second page.
We can still use help Friday night also, but Saturday is the day we are really worried about. Part of what makes this event successful is having great volunteers in scary costume (mask or makeup) to walk around and scare the kids in the cars. If we don’t receive more volunteers for Saturday, we will be forced to cancel the event for Saturday which will be letting down our sponsor, Ali Turfe at Westborn Car Wash, who has invested much time, effort, and personal expense for our school. If you are someone with performance anxiety, please don’t worry- you don’t even have to speak if you don’t want to- just walk around, look in car windows, look scary- the people who worked it last year all had a fantastic time. High school students in scary costume are also welcome and encouraged. Please do not bring middle school students unless you are also volunteering and able to supervise them. This is for safety reasons. If anyone needs a costume, please reach out to Robbin Makled 313-319-7199, as the PTSA can get you a good one to lend.
Please review the signup genius and seriously consider how you can help. Just a few hours of your time will significantly help relieve the burden on the PTSA event organizers who are working so hard. Our children will ALL share in the benefits of funds raised for the school.

The O.L. Smith Middle School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) has teamed up again with Westborn Car Wash to present The Haunted Car Wash Tunnel of Terror (see the flyer attached). Lock your car doors and roll up the windows as you prepare to enter the Haunted Car Wash for some sudsy, spooky fun! Last year’s biggest Halloween fun event is back this year for two consecutive nights.
The Haunted Car Wash fundraiser is being held on Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29, 2022, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM each evening.
The Westborn Car Wash is located at 25073 Michigan Ave in Dearborn, west of Telegraph Road. Participants will receive an entertaining, immersive experience that begins as soon as they pull into parking lot and will have them on the edge of their seat until their sparkling clean car emerges from the Tunnel of Terror, all from the safety of their own vehicle.
Freaky phantoms, evil clowns, and demented demons will take over for two nights only, ensuring that patrons get the scare of their life with haunted scenes and displays as they proceed through the car wash, ending with a terrifying towel dry and treat bags. This years’ event will have new gruesome displays and bigger and even bigger scares- parental discretion is advised.
Last year’s fundraiser raised nearly $5,000. Monies raised go right back into the school to provide for classroom activities, programs, and supplies.
