Whether you experienced it for yourself or saw it on WDIV 4 News, the OL Smith Haunted Carwash was a HUGE Success!
YOUR VIKING PTSA pulled out all the stops to really make this happen. There are so many wonderful families and business that were overly generous in giving to the students of OL Smith! THANK YOU!
PTSA President put it best, so I want to share her words:
” We wanted to give some thank you’s to a lot of people and organizations who help to make this awesome event a success. Please patronize these businesses and support them they way they supported us! Write them favorable Google reviews! First and foremost, Ali Turfe and Westborn Car Wash were amazing! Ali is incredibly generous, donating 100% of the $6,000 proceeds to our school. This is the highest single event fundraising total ever achieved at OL Smith! Ali has a heart of gold and is a dream to work with. He was a true partner and inspired us to do our best!
Joe Haidous and Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on Greenfield were also incredibly generous to our school! DQ gave away well over 200 ice cream cones to kids who came through our car wash. DQ Grill & Chill’s generosity made our event especially unique by allowing families to make a whole night of fun out of it!
Dearborn Federal Savings and LaFontaine Auto gave us generous donations to help fund 800 treat bags given away.
Howe Peterson sent a hearse and their awesome driver Gerry both nights to volunteer and make our event authentic!
Dearborn Fire sent fire trucks each night to the event and donated corn stalks! Dearborn Police were there when we needed them!
Thank you to all our first responders! It was amazing to have Mayor Abdullah Hammoud show up at our event. He is a true supporter of our kids and we loved having him there! Thank you also to the Mayor’s office for your support!
Thank you to Smith parent Michael Kuentz and his company Visual Ronin for all the technical and audio work and set up. Michael recorded all the soundtracks, created the radio station which made the event extra special and cool, and he and John Zadikian produced the “news bulletin” that played on the radio. Thank you to the DHS Key Club and Edsel Ford Performing arts for providing us awesome volunteers!Treasure the people who never say no to you and ALWAYS show up when you need them. Stacy Holland and her family are the best. Surprised she can walk now, after 8 hours of jump scares soaking wet inside the car wash! Anne Michelis always shows up when we need her with tools and supplies (despite also no longer having a kid at the school). Amy Fradkin helped with so many things, including putting together 800 treat bags to give away. Andy Fradkin helped with many side jobs including putting up and taking down the 12 foot skeleton!

Maya Fares was our VAN CLOWN- We are a little scared of her after watching her dark side come out! she put on a great show and did the Van justice both nights. She also helped with planning and setup.Thank you to Laura Williams for the banner creation and planning and Laura Fish handling the finances and setup!Thank you to Jincy Mathew, the Fairy Godmother of vans and her friend Roe for helping our Van dreams come true! It made our night extra cool!!!Thank you to ALL the volunteers who helped plan, set up, scare, and take down and put away the props and clean up.
Thank you to anyone we might have inadvertently missed.Thank you to all the families and teachers who came through the car wash!!! We especially loved scaring Mr. Rummel!!! A HUGE thank you to Mr. Rummel and Ms. Fayad for supporting and helping us with school communications to make sure everyone at school knew about and was excited about the event! You and our educators put in the hard work each day to help our kids and you ALL inspire us to work hard to make our school the BEST! We look forward to working with both of you on ways to spend the money to make our school better!!Our hearts are full! It takes a village to raise a child and you are ALL an important part of that village
