The Viking Week Ahead 4/10 – 4/14

Greetings Vikings!

What a wonderful transition from Spring Break and into Quarter 4 this week. Next week is our FULL Week of April, and we have plenty to fill it with, including PSAT Testing for our 8th Graders on Wednesday. Doing our best will help provide students with direction for High School Coursework, as well as opening options for College and Career in the future. Your week ahead:

Monday:

• OL Smith SEDSAC: 1:22-2:19

Tuesday:

• Jazz Band 3:30-4:00
• Tutoring 3:30-5:00
• PTSA Meeting 6:30pm Media Center

Wednesday:

• Student Council Officers Meeting, 7:30am
• PSAT 8 Testing for 8th Graders.  Testing Schedule will run today. Please do your best to be on time this day, as makeups are difficult

Thursday:

• PSAT Make-Ups
• Jazz Band 3:30-4:00
• Tutoring 3:30-5:00

Friday:

• PSAT Make-Ups

Notes:

• The OL Smith Test Retake Policy is HERE. Please familiarize yourselves with it, as Quarter 4 we are implementing it.
• CALLING PARENTS: Interested in working at OL Smith for part of the day?  We have openings in the noon-hour supervisor positions.  This is a great opportunity to get involved, get out of the house, and become part of the Dearborn Public School system.

• MHSAA Athletic Physical — As a reminder, athletes will need a 2022-23 MHSAA Athletic Physical before participating in a 2022-23 sport.  Any physical dated after 4/15/2022 is valid for the 22-23 school year.  Here is a link to the MHSAA Physical Form:  https://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/documents/health%20safety/physical2page.pdf
• If you would like to serve on the advisory committee for the development/refresh of the Dearborn Public Schools Strategic Plan, please sign up using the linked form below.
  • Serving on the advisory committee will not require a long term commitment, but it does involve three evenings in the next three months. All meetings will be in the Board Room, Administrative Service Center.

• PSAT TESTING FOR 8th Grade is NEXT WEEK on Wednesday! 
• MSTEP FOR ALL GRADES WILL BE IN MAY.
• Make-Ups are difficult, so make every effort to be here the day of the exams:
  • PSAT 8: Wednesday April 4/12/2023 for 8th Graders
  • M-STEP, May (NOTE THE CHANGE): 
    • Wednesday May 3rd (4th, 5th Finish/Make-ups): 
      • 6th/7th Grades: Math  8th Grade: Science
    • Wednesday May 10th (11th,12th Finish/Make-ups):: 
      •  6th/7th Grades:ELA    8th Grade: Social Studies
    • Make-Ups will Occur the Week of Testing in each subject area
