1/16-1/19
Greetings Vikings!
Happy First Official Week of 2024! We are off and running to a great start to 2024 and the second semester. Schedules should be finalized at this point and we are excited for this great semester to get rolling!
Update on the upcoming Operating Millage Renewal-
This is 16% of the total district budget. It is important to note that this is not a new tax, renewal of an existing millage. Make your view known on February 27th.
Smith has been selected for an opportunity to lead the nation and state. Based on our strong performance, we have been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
A random sampling of students will be selected by the organization to test in the area of mathematics or reading. The sampling is to be representative of the entire student population at OL Smith as a whole. Those selected will be notified within the week through a letter brought home by the student and email to all contacts on file.
NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. In 2024, our school will take part in the NAEP pilot test. Results from the pilot test will not be publicly released but will be used to inform future NAEP assessments.
