Greetings Vikings,
This was shared at the end of 2023, however I feel highlighting it again as we are completing the Testing Cycle is relevant. OL Smith Students are more prepared for the next level than ever, and we are only beginning. You will see two snapshots of our “School Quality Index” with the State of Michigan below.
The top image shows you where we are with the most recent data, at the end of 2022-23. The bottom image shows you where we were just one year prior, in 2021-22. It is important to note that the information gets updated annually in July, so this school year is not represented yet.
Highlights over a one year span:
Our Overall Quality has Jumped more than 20%
Students Meeting their state-defined Growth Target in a School Year has increased over 20% (to 91% of students ON TARGET)
Students at Grade Level Proficiency rose 13%
English Language Learner Progress has grown 48%
The Overall Quality Index of OL Smith has risen 17% ( to an overall score of over 83%)
You will see Support Category as Universal Support both years. This basically translates to “we do not need state intervention because we are doing well preparing students”
You, the OL Smith Community have done a fabulous job working and supporting your school and your children. We are pleased with this progress, but still will continue to grow and max out these numbers. If you want to check on this directly, or see how OL Smith compares to other schools, please take a look online at https://www.mischooldata.org/school-index/
Thank you
