B-Day
Lunch: Pinwheels
1) Students: Please check the lost and found area near the cafeteria for anything you may
have misplaced and take it home before winter break. All items left in the lost and found
area at the end of the day Friday, December 22nd will be given to Goodwill.
2) Students who would like to participate in outdoor recess during lunch must bring a jacket,
hat, boots, and gloves/mittens to the cafeteria. If you do not bring these items with you to the
lunchroom, you will not be allowed to go outside.
3) PTSA online fundraiser: Steeped Tea Fundraising. Go to the PTSA facebook page for more
information or contact Ms. Virginia Adams. The fundraiser runs through December 22nd.
4) Smith Winter Concert – December 19, 6:30pm in the auditorium. Everyone is welcome to attend.
5) Next Late Start – Wednesday, December 20, 2017
6) Winter Break – Dec. 25, 2017 thru Jan. 5, 2018. School resumes Monday, January 8, 2018
7) Attention 8th grade students: A representative from the Early College will be here Friday,
December 15 to meet with students who are interested in the Health and Pre-Engineering
Programs. Please let your A2 teacher know you are interested.

8) The district has chosen O.L. Smith students to receive an ASD Awareness presentation on
the following Fridays: January 12th – 7th grade, and January 19th – 6th grade. The presenter
will come to your math class for the presentation.
9) O.L. Smith STAND is sponsoring a Holiday Drive to collect toiletries for the
Detroit Rescue Mission. To donate, please see the list of requested items posted in
Mrs. Rivait’s room and place them in her drop basket. Collection is from 11/27-12/21.
10) The Student Council & STAND students would like your help in creating the “Sock It To ‘Em”
holiday “sock” tree. New and very gently used pairs of socks of all sizes, for boys and girls,
men and women, can be dropped in the basket in the counseling office by Mrs. Rivait’s
Desk. Collection is from 11/27 – 12/21.
