1) It’s time for students to nominate their favorite O.L. Smith teacher for the 2018
Alberta Muirhead Teacher of the Year Students’ Choice Award. The deadline for submitting
applications is Friday, March 16, 2018 at 5:00 pm. Printed nomination forms can be picked up in the main office, or an online nomination form can be found on the District’s website
(www.dearbornschools.org) or directly at: https://goo.gl/nuCtnN if you prefer.
Let’s nominate our wonderful Smith teachers!

2) Popsockets are here! You have been hearing about them and waiting for them, and today
is the day you can purchase your own O.L.Smith Popsocket. Stop by the atrium after school today and Friday to get yours for only $6 each or 2 for $10!

4) Donations for Parkland, Florida Students! A tragedy occurred at a high school in
Florida just a few weeks ago. The teachers of the school have reached out, asking for
some help. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is asking for letters and postcards
of love, support, and encouragement. They are also asking for school supplies.
Posters, classroom decorations, pencils, pens, notebooks, paper, books, anything that
a classroom needs in order to function. Please leave all donations with your A2 teacher
and Ms. Timpf will collect donated items on Friday, March 2nd and the following week on
March 6th. The sooner these items are donated, the more quickly we can help students
in Florida have school seem a little more normal again.

5) Representatives from Edsel Ford H.S. will be speaking to 8th grade students in the auditorium
on March 20th at 8:30am to discuss scheduling and other opportunities. The Dearborn H.S.
Scheduling visit will be on March 26th at 1pm in the auditorium.

6) The Edsel Ford H.S. Spring Freshmen Orientation for students and their families will be held
on March 28th at 6pm in the auditorium. Parent Night at Dearborn H.S. for Freshmen will
be March 28th at 6pm in the auditorium.

7) Save the Date: The next PTSA sponsored Scholastic Book Fair will be from March 23th to
March 29th.

8) Student Reward Program: All students who check out books with your ID card will get to add a
sticker to our “famous mystery painting” by the showcase, and DURING MARCH, will also get a
special origami fox bookmark (while supplies last).

9) PTSA Meeting – March 13th @ 7pm in the Media Center

10) Everyone is invited to attend the “Dearborn’s Got Talent” show.This city wide event on March 8th
Will showcase the best in local high school talent. High school students from across Dearborn will
compete for top honors at the fifth annual “Dearborn’s Got Talent!” show on Thursday, March 8, at
6:30 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. The Center is located at: 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126. Tickets for general admission seating are on sale now at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center Box Office. Prices in advance are $5 cash, $8 credit card.
