B-Day
LATE START TODAY
1) Smith parents are invited to attend a parent meeting, Sept. 26th at 6:45pm in the
Auditorium. Topics of discussion will include PTSA, Grade Committees, Fundraising and Events. Please plan to attend this important meeting. For more information, follow the OL Smith Informational Facebook page. Additionally for 8th grade parents, please follow this Facebook page for information.
2) Dentists-R-Us will be coming to Smith M.S. on Wednesday, October 10th to provide dental
services for students at a reduced rate or free of charge. Dentists-R-Us can perform dental
exams, dental cleaning, x-rays, fluoride treatments and sealants to our students.
If more than 35 students participate in the program there will be a drawing for an Android
tablet. Students please take home the permission slip and return it to the main no
later than Friday Sept. 28th.
3) Students who recently received an emergency card from their A2 teacher, please have your parents/guardians update the required information, and
return the emergency form to the Main Office as soon as possible.

4) Student Council Elections will be held on September 28th. Any student
wishing to run for Student Council needs to see Mr. Radcliffe in room 20
to get an application. Applications MUST be returned to Mr. Radcliffe no later than today, September 19th. Late applications will NOT be accepted. Any student who wants to create and display a campaign poster must turn the poster in to Mr. Radcliffe by Friday, September 21 .
5) Picture day for students participating in a fall sport will be Thursday,
September, 27th starting at 3:00pm. Student athletes will receive a picture
envelope from their Coach and info about picture location. A few sport
picture envelopes are available in the main office. Email Ms. Sisty at
sistye@dearbornschools.org for additional information.
6) The Vikings Drama Club will have their first meeting September 20th from 3:05 pm to
4: 30pm. Any student interested in joining the club should attend this first informational meeting in the auditorium.
7) Do you like animals? There is a new club starting that will take place after
school on Wednesdays called: Purrs and Puppies Animal Rescue Club
(a Charity Club for animals). If you are interested in joining please sign up
in Room 32 (Mr. Trerice’s room) during lunch, before or after school. Our
first meeting will take place today, September 19th right after school
in room 32! Help us save, Let’s be Brave!
8) 7th Graders – Would you like to take a Religious Journey around the world?
Six-7th graders who are open to meet students from the metro Detroit area and
experience diversity will be selected. This year 700 7th graders from around the metro area will gather together for a one-of-a-kind tour and learn about culture, religion & faith traditions. Interested students can pick up an application outside the counseling office. Six students will be selected!
9) The 7th Annual Robert Cipriano Memorial Cross Country Run will be held on Monday,
October 15th at Ford Field Park in Dearborn. The two-mile run for middle schoolers will start at 4:00 for girls, and 4:25 for boys. There is a $3 charge and a permission slip must be turned in. If you are interested in participating, please see your Physical Education teacher for an entrance form no later than October 10th.
