A-Day
Thanksgiving Break – Wednesday, Nov. 21st thru Friday, Nov. 23rd.
1) Today after school is the boys home basketball game against Stout. Everyone is invited to come support the team and while you’re there, purchase snacks for only $1 each at the concession stand hosted by the Student Council. Proceeds from the sale will support Student Council with their future plans for the year and 30% of the proceeds will go to help children in Yemen. Important Reminder: Students must clean up after themselves and keep the gym clean during games or Student Council will be unable to sell snacksagain! Go Vikings!!
2) Winter is wonderful and we all enjoy the snow, but the Administrators want to remind all students that throwing snow before and after school is not allowed. The snow must remain on the ground.
3) Students: The colder weather is now upon us. Please remember to dress appropriately with a coat, hat, gloves and boots when needed. According to the Superintendent of Dearborn Schools, students may be outside when the wind chill or temperature is 20° or above. (See Superintendent’s Iblog) Students are allowed to enter school at 7:40am for breakfast or must remain on the blue tiles in the atrium until the 7:50am bell rings if not in the cafeteria.
4) The PTSA is currently having a Membership Drive during A2 class. The A2 class that turns in the most PTSA membership registrations with payment by Nov. 26th will receive some breakfast goodies. Currently the classes leading the competition are:
6th grade – Alhassan & Radcliffe’s classes are tied
7th grade – Hamid
8th grade – Abouzour, Jaber, McCauslin are tied
PTSA Memberships are $10 for an individual and $17 for a family membership. Thereare many ways to be an active member without having to invest a lot of time. Remember, it’s for all the Smith students, so please join today!
5) The 7th grade pizza party for penny wars will be Friday, Nov. 30th during Flex Time.
6) Dearborn’s annual Tree Lighting and Sing Along is Monday, Dec. 3
7) Winter Concert: December 18th at 6:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend!
8) Congratulations to Ms. K. Bitar’s Advisory-A2 class for raising the most cans for the HYPE canned food drive! Thank you to Big Al’s for donating the pizza to Ms. Bitar’s A2 class. Thank you Vikings for helping out those that are less fortunate. Way to go!
