Dearborn hatched and growing Monarch caterpillars and chrysalis were a hands-on hot topic of discovery today. A huge thank you to Ms. Makled for coming in to share her butterfly/caterpillar collection and teach us all about the fantastic Monarch Butterfly!

LaFontaine Automotive group will be having an town hall meeting at OL Smith Middle School at 6pm in the auditorium to discuss the planned future for the vacant Sav-A-Lot site.

Our Summer Vikings are ready if ever stranded on an island. Equipped with knowledge of buoyancy, donations for recycled cardboard, packing tape, and the power of collaboration, they are ready to solve the problem of creating a pool-filter-friendly boat! The time will be approaching for the main event – piloting the ship across the pool!…

The Vikings of Summer are starting small, but are planning BIG! Our teachers have guided students through designing and eventually 3-D printing their own projects! Keychains are the start, where it leads is wherever the imagination ends.

The summer packet for all Smith 2021-2022 families have been mailed. Inside the mailing packet, look for the welcome back letter from Principal Jebril, a Smith magnetic calendar with district dates, the PBIS student manual and important forms such as the Smith Dress Code, Code of Conduct and Cell Phone Policy for all students. Thank you so much to our neighbor and garden angel Janet Damian, as well as 9th grade student Dalia who delivered 14 BAGS of fresh produce to St. Vincent DePaul/ St. Sebastian food bank today from our O.L. Smith Garden.

Our summer adventure continues, learning through problem-solving and creating! Vikings value being innovative! Our recent challenges included creating cars from recycled materials that run on air and designing 3-D print prototypes!
