Congratulations to the nominees for this years Linking Hearts students. Monday October 23, 2023 will be our first meeting. The meeting will be held from 3:30-4:30pm in Room 53. Looking forward to an exciting new year with our Linking Hearts mentors.
Linking Hearts and Detroit Catholic Central would like to thank OL Smith for the opportunity to help make a positive change in students’ lives. We believe it is our duty as human beings to lift each other up; to spread positivity and hope. We started building a mentorship program between CC and OL Smith students last year and are excited to continue building on that relationship this year to help make students aware that everyone is capable of making a difference in this world. We will be having college students and other speakers addressing OL Smith’s students, showing them the importance of education, commitment and hard work.
Our goal is to empower and equip students with the tools to elevate their self-perception, instill confidence in their capabilities, and help them set and reach their goals. To achieve this, Catholic Central mentors and Linking Hearts will create a series of purposeful activities aimed at bolstering self-confidence among OL Smith students.
Some of the planned activities include:
- Embracing Failure as Growth
- Displaying Newfound Skills
- Fostering Independence and Leadership
- Practicing Good Manners
(And many other activities to help our Smith students develop into the best versions of themselves.)
Participation in the program is limited and students will be nominated for inclusion in this program by their teachers. If your child is chosen to be a part of this select group, they will be given a permission slip to bring home for parents to complete
